How It All Began
Meet our founder, Allison Nold
You’re the Youth: The Future of Democracy™ was founded by Allison Nold, a 21 year old college student who didn’t think there was enough political information on the web presented directly to the youth in an interactive, aesthetically pleasing manner. She wanted to trim down the fat and get down to the meat of the matter. (Or, tofu if you’re a vegetarian) She was tired of hearing rehearsed lines, reading stuffy textbooks, and watching endless PowerPoint presentations on politics. “Just say how it is, why we should all give a hoot and what we can do to make a difference.”
Allison also didn’t like the stigma that went along with the word “politics”. Bringing up the topic “could seriously cause injury to any healthy friendship” she says with much experience. “But it’s actually a fun, interesting topic! There just isn’t enough information directed to the youth that’s engaging, easy to understand and fun to read.”
So – instead of sitting around waiting for a reference that wouldn’t bore her to death, she decided to create it herself. After hundreds of hours of research, blood, sweat and tears You’re the Youth: The Future of Democracy™ has finally come into fruition.
